WACO, Texas (Nov. 26, 2019) — This week, Baylor University will host multiple academic lectures, performances, holiday-themed events and the Women’s World Day of Prayer Brunch.

Chapel Highlights – Chapel will present “Discovering Advent” at 9:05, 10:10 and 11:15 a.m. in Waco Hall, 624 Speight Ave. For more information, visit the Spiritual Life website.
Movie Mondays at the Hippodrome – Movie Mondays presented by Baylor’s Union Board will continue this week with a showing of “The River and the Wall,” a journey down the U.S.-Mexico borderlands and the potential impact of a wall on the natural environment documented by filmmaker Ben Masters. The screening will be at 7 p.m. in the Waco Hippodrome, 724 Austin Ave. Tickets are free and can be picked up at the Waco Hippodrome Box Office, the Bill Daniel Student Center ticket office or online.

TUESDAY, Dec. 3

Rhinoceros – Baylor Theatre will present “Rhinoceros” at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Theatre in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center, 60 Baylor Ave. Performances will be held through Dec. 8. For more information, visit the theatre website.
World Cinema Series – The department of modern languages and cultures will continue its 13th annual World Cinema Series with “Ash Is Purest White,” a film in Chinese with English subtitles. Women’s World Day of Prayer Brunch – A Women’s World Day of Prayer Brunch, “Arise, Shine through Service,” will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, in the Piper Great Hall of George W. Truett Theological Seminary, 1100 S. Third St. Featured speaker and guest of honor will be Earl Ann Lenert Bumpus, former assistant director of Baptist Student Union (now Baptist Student Ministries) at Baylor and newly elected president of Texas Woman’s Missionary Union. THURSDAY, Dec. 5

A Baylor Christmas – The combined choirs of Baylor and the Baylor Symphony Orchestra will perform “A Baylor Christmas” to celebrate the Christmas season at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building, 110 Baylor Ave. Tickets are sold out. Christmas at the Mayborn – The Mayborn Museum Complex will host special Christmas-themed events and activities, including a visit from Santa and a special model train display from the Central Texas Area Model Railroaders, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 1300 S. Mathematics Lecture Series – Douglas Arnold, Ph.D., McKnight Presidential Professor of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota, will deliver a colloquium talk on “Finite Element Exterior Calculus” at 4 p.m. in Room 301 of the Marrs McLean Science Building, 1214 S. Santa’s Workshop – Santa's Workshop is an annual event that invites hundreds of children aged 3-5 from Greater Waco-area Head Start classes to Baylor University to take part in a Christmas celebration from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the McLane Student Life Center, 209 Speight Ave. Children attending the event will have the opportunity to spend time with Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Baylor community and receive a complimentary lunch and Christmas gift.
