WACO, Texas (Aug. 26, 2019) – Baylor University alumni and fans worldwide will have the opportunity to showcase their unmatched passion and spirit for Baylor in a collective way: by wearing green and gold as part of national College Colors Day on Friday, Aug. 30.

College Colors Day also celebrates a new season of intercollegiate athletics and the first football weekend for many universities. Baylor will kick off the 2019 football season the following day, Saturday, Aug. 31, against Stephen F. Austin State University at McLane Stadium.

“I love Spirit Fridays at Baylor, and I’m excited to support College Colors Day, which provides our campus community and Baylor alumni and fans everywhere a visible way to show our pride and support for Baylor by wearing the green and gold of our University,” said Baylor President Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D. “There’s tremendous energy and excitement at Baylor at the beginning of a new academic year with a new Baylor United brand featuring the historic and iconic interlocking BU. I encourage Baylor fans worldwide to join together – wherever you are – in flinging our green and gold afar by wearing your favorite Baylor apparel on College Colors Day and every Friday following.”

Created by collegiate licensing leader CLC and now in its 15th year, College Colors Day gives college fans across the country a dedicated day to wear apparel featuring the school colors of their favorite college or university while sharing their pride on social media using the hashtag #CollegeColorsDay.

This year’s celebration features a partnership with the College Football 150th Anniversary and showcases the history of the sport with the theme “Never Fade.” Hundreds of colleges and universities across the country are expected to participate in the celebration.

“With the Bears kicking off the 2019 football season this Saturday, College Colors Day is a great opportunity for Baylor alumni and fans to get ready for game day and showcase their University spirit by proudly wearing their green and gold in their classrooms, offices, neighborhoods or communities,” said Jason Cook, vice president for marketing and communications and chief marketing officer at Baylor. “It’s a great way to rekindle rivalries and visually demonstrate the passion our alumni and fans have for Baylor and our many great traditions.”
