Baylor To Honor Eleven Texas Family Businesses

Family businesses from throughout Texas will be honored Thursday, Oct. 28, at the 15th annual Texas Family Business of the Year' competition, sponsored by Baylor University's Institute for Family Business. The banquet will be held in the Barfield Drawing Room in the Bill Daniel Student Center on the Baylor campus.
More than 100 businesses across the Lone Star State were nominated for the contest, which honors top firms demonstrating strong business and family/community values. Judges include family business consultants, advisers and principals of family firms.
This year's award winners are:

 

  • Small family business (50 or fewer employees) - Washington County Tractor, Brenham
  • Medium family business (51-200 employees) - The Expo Group, Irving
  • Large family business (more than 200 employees) - Jim Coleman Company, Houston
  • Community commitment award - Hi-Line Electric Co., Dallas
  • Family values award - Wade Pennington & Sons Farm & Ranch, Grapeland
  • Well-managed award - Empire Roofing, Fort Worth
  • Fastest-growing award - REDLEE/SCS Group, Dallas
  • Founders award - Peterson Beckner Industries, Dallas/Houston

Another group of businesses will receive recognition as finalists in this year's competition. These firms are: Bonus Crop Fertilizer, Bay City; Quik Pak Food Stores/Dameron Oil, Waco; Thermo/Probes, Inc., Houston.
