WACO, Texas (April 29, 2019) – Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary will host Boomers & Beyond, a two-day conference on Thursday, May 2, and Friday, May 3, 2019, to demonstrate the vitality and legacy of the Boomer generation and beyond.

The conference will host Christian comedian Dennis Swanberg, B.A. (Greek and Religion) ’76, along with Delvin Atchison, pastor-elect at Westside Baptist Church in Lewisville, Texas; Howard Batson, pastor at First Baptist Church Amarillo; Duane Brooks, pastor at Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, Texas; Lillian Hinds, pastor at Meadow Oaks Baptist Church in Temple, Texas; Les Hollon, senior pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas; and Dennis Wiles, senior pastor at First Baptist Church Arlington.

The conference also will feature three informational sessions from Baylor University’s Diana Garland School of Social Work, BearAware Online Safety and the Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief Team.

“The informational sessions will be directed towards the seniors of the Boomer Generation,” said Shawn Boyd, program coordinator for the Kyle Lake Center for Effective Preaching and the coordinator for the Lilly Endowment Preaching Grant. “The Texas Baptist Men will talk about the work that they do, ways that people can sign up to be a part of the group or how to contact the organization if they are needed. The BearAware session will talk about online safety for email and social media, and the social work session will focus on public health.”
