I-35 Northbound and Southbound to Close Wednesday Night for Forrest Street Bridge Work

Please read and share the important information below from the Texas Department of Transportation regarding full I-35 mainlane closures Wednesday night that impact cross traffic at University Parks Drive and MLK Blvd. This TxDOT notice and related traffic map are online HERE.

WACO, Texas (Jan. 22, 2019) - Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 7 PM to 7 AM, I-35 northbound and southbound mainlanes will close as the contractor continues work on the Forrest Street U-turn bridge.

Northbound mainlane traffic will detour off I-35 at Exit #335C/MLK Blvd. and re-enter the mainlanes near US 84/Bellmead Drive.

Southbound mainlane traffic will detour off I-35 at a temporary exit near Elm Avenue and re-enter the mainlanes at University Parks Drive.

BOTH the MLK and University Parks intersections under I-35 will be closed to traffic crossing I-35 during the work. Drivers should plan alternate routes to get from one side of I-35 to the other in this area.

Loop 340 will be available as an alternate route for long-distance traffic during the closures. Warning signs will be in place to assist motorists. Travelers are encouraged to seek alternate routes during this time.

Remember to obey all warning and detour signs in the work zone.
