No one was injured Monday afternoon after a fire damaged one unit at the Baylor Plaza Apartments, 1717 S. Second St., in Waco. Two other units at the university-owned apartment complex were damaged by water and smoke.
The Waco Fire Department arrived on the scene shortly after the fire was reported to authorities about 1:51 p.m. Monday. Flames were seen coming from the roof of the building, but firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.
Baylor Campus Living and Learning officials are assisting the 12 students displaced by the fire with temporary housing on campus. Baylor also is helping the students with incidentals, such as clothing, books and personal items.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
