Marilyn Crone Named Vice President for Human Resources

WACO - Marilyn A. Crone, senior vice president at NationsBank's Waco Banking Center, has been appointed vice president for human resources by Baylor University President Robert B. Sloan Jr. Her appointment is effective Jan. 5.
Crone's responsibilities at Baylor will include supervision of employment, personnel compensation and benefits, organizational and professional development, affirmative action and diversity initiatives, and other human resources functions.
"We are very pleased to add Marilyn Crone to the executive administration of the University," Sloan said. "She not only brings outstanding experience in terms of management and administrative skills, but also a deep commitment to the work of human resources and the development of our greatest resource as a university, which is people."
A native of Tyler, Crone has been with NationsBank and its predecessor banks for more than 15 years. She joined the bank in 1982 as a credit analyst and worked in the credit and mortgage lending departments before moving into commercial lending in 1985. She was named assistant vice president and commercial loan officer in 1986 and was promoted to vice president and senior commercial lender in 1988. Crone was recently named senior vice president of the bank.
At NationsBank she has participated in specialized training including diversity issues, recruiting and interviewing, leadership development, work/family relationships, managerial development and other human resources-related disciplines.

Crone earned her bachelor of business administration and master of business administration
degrees from Baylor in 1981 and 1982, respectively. She is a trustee of Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, and serves on the board's building, budget and insurance/risk management committees. She is also a member of the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce board of directors, where she serves as co-chair of the Education Partnerships Committee.
Her past involvement has included serving on the Baylor Alumni Association board of directors and the Dr Pepper Museum and Free Enterprise Institute board of directors. She is a past president and former member of the Baylor/Waco Foundation board of directors and is a graduate of the 1990-91 Leadership Waco program. Crone is a member of First Baptist Church, Woodway, where she has taught Sunday School and served on various committees.
