WACO, Texas (Oct. 11, 2018) – This week, Baylor University will host speakers for the Academy of Leadership Development, environmental science seminar and Chapel services, along with two movie screenings, a concert and the final performance of Baylor Theatre’s “Godspell.” In observance of fall break, classes will not be held on Friday, Oct. 19.

SUNDAY, Oct. 14

Godspell – Baylor Theatre is presenting “Godspell,” a musical inspired by the gospel of Jesus Christ and the three years he built a community of believers. “Godspell” will have its final performance at 2 p.m. in the Mabee Theatre in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center, 60 Baylor Ave. Tickets are $20 online or through the box office, and $17 at the box office with a Baylor ID. MONDAY, Oct. 15

Chapel Highlights – Chapel will feature filmmaker Brandon Dickerson, B.A. (English) ’94 at 9:05, 10:10 and 11 a.m. in Waco Hall, 624 Speight Ave. Dickerson has directed musical shorts for The Walt Disney Company and was awarded the Cannes Gold Lion award for his commercial work. Movie Mondays at the Hippodrome – Movie Mondays will continue this week with a reunion screening of “One Nation Under God,” presented by the film’s directors. The film shows four college-aged Christians who want to expand their views of God, the world and eternity. The four men will reunite to talk about how the film continues to impact their lives. The screening will start at 7 p.m. at the Waco Hippodrome, 724 Austin Ave. After the film screening and discussion, there will be a reception with Pokey O’s. Tickets are free and can be picked up at the Waco Hippodrome box office, the Bill Daniel Student Center ticket office or online.

TUESDAY, Oct. 16

World Cinema Series – Baylor’s department of modern languages and cultures will screen “Benvenuti al Sud,” or “Welcome to the South,” an Italian comedy about a postmaster who fakes an injury to be able to be transferred to a new work location, for this week’s World Cinema Series at 6 p.m. in Bennett Auditorium in the Draper Academic Building, 1420 S. Academy Speaker Series – Baylor’s Academy for Leadership Development will host Derek Clark for its speaker series at 6 p.m. in Room 506 of Cashion Academic Center, 1401 S. Fourth St. Clark is the author of seven inspirational books, including “Never Limit Your Life” and the critically acclaimed “I Will Never Give Up” book series.

Choir Performance – Baylor’s Concert Choir and Bella Voce will hold a concert at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall in Glennis McCrary Music Building, 110 Baylor Ave. Concert Choir is conducted by Stephen Gusukuma, Ph.D., lecturer in choral music, and Bella Voce is conducted by Lynne Gackle, Ph.D., director of choral ensembles. Environmental Science Seminar – Tzahi Y. Cath, Ph.D., Ben L. Fryrear Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado School of Mines, will present “Membrane processes for water purification, wastewater reclamation and desalination,” during a seminar presented by Baylor’s department of environmental science at 4 p.m. in Room A.108 of the Baylor Sciences Building, 101 Bagby Ave. For more information, visit the environmental science website.

FRIDAY, Oct. 19

Carillon Congress – Baylor will host the 26th annual Texas Regional Carillon Congress on Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20. Guest recitals, which are open to the public, will be performed from 5 to 6:30 p.m. by carillonneurs Sam Hord and Karel Keldermans on the McLane Carillon in Pat Neff Hall, 1320 S.
