WACO, Texas (Sept. 21, 2018) – Amanda Powell, director of music and worship at Disciples Christian Church in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, will serve as guest-in-residence as part of the Fall 2018 Hearn Innovators in Christian Music Series.

Powell will perform at 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 24, in Recital Hall II of Waco Hall, 624 Speight Ave.

“Amanda Powell is a dynamic singer who performs in varied styles and finds opportunities to share her faith in many different types of communities and environments,” said Randall Bradley, D.M.A., The Ben H. Williams Professor of Music and director of the church music program and Center for Christian Music Studies at Baylor University.

The Hearn Innovators in Christian Music Series is presented by Baylor University’s Center for Christian Music Studies and will bring Powell to campus, where she will speak to classes, give public presentations and visit with students in small group settings.

Powell is both a liturgist and worship leader and has served at events with the World Council of Churches, The United Church of Christ Church House and the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. She has also performed and presented workshops at Princeton Theological Seminary, Union Presbyterian Seminary, The United Methodist Women’s Assembly, the American Guild of Organists and the Presbyterian Association of Musicians.

“Through her beautiful singing, engaging storytelling and compelling sincerity, she challenges us as worshipers and Christ followers to do something to make our world better,” Bradley said.
