2018 President’s Concert To Be Held on April 21: “America: Reflections of Diversity”

WACO, Texas (April 20, 2018) – Baylor University’s School of Music will present the President’s Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 21, in Jones Concert Hall, Glennis McCrary Music Building, 110 Baylor Ave. This year’s program is “America: Reflections of Diversity,” an evening of music by American composers or international composers who studied in the United States.

The 77-member Baylor University Wind Ensemble will perform under the leadership of J. Eric Wilson, Ph.D., director of bands. Also on stage will be guest artists, among them Kevin Sedatole, Ph.D., distinguished conductor and former Baylor band director, Ola Gjeilo, Norwegian-born composer and pianist, Scott McAllister, Ph.D., professor of composition, Isaiah Odajima, Ph.D., associate director of bands, Steve Dailey, assistant director of bands and Robert Best, Ph.D., associate professor of voice.

Guest composer and pianist Gjeilo is one of the most frequently performed composers in the choral world. He serves as a full-time composer at the Juilliard School in New York City. Gjeilo will perform his own “Meridian,” with members of the A Cappella Choir and Concert Choir.
