9:30 p.m. Update, Jan. 15, 2018
WACO, Texas (Jan. 15, 2018) – Baylor University will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, because of winter weather conditions.
Baylor Law School and Baylor's Louise Herrington School of Nursing in Dallas also will be closed on Tuesday.
On the Waco campus, only essential employees, such as those with Baylor Police and Department of Public Safety, facilities and residence halls, are to report for work.
For students living on campus, Penland and East Village dining halls will be open on Tuesday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The Baylor University Shuttle (BUS) service will not be operating on Tuesday.
With temperatures remaining below freezing through tonight, the top decks of all parking garages are closed at this time.
As officials continue to monitor the weather, any updates to university operations will be available for students, faculty and staff via www.baylor.edu, Baylor email and @Baylor on Twitter.

WACO, TEXAS (Jan. 15, 2018) – The Central Texas area is under a Winter Storm Warning from midnight tonight to 6 p.m. Tuesday, as a strong cold front is expected to bring wintry precipitation across most of North and Central Texas.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the front is expected to move through the Waco area late tonight with light rain changing to a winter mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow as temperatures fall below freezing. These conditions may lead to hazardous road conditions throughout the Central Texas area.
In advance of freezing precipitation, Baylor Police will be closing the top decks on all parking garages tonight.
At this time, Baylor officials are monitoring the weather, and any change in University operations will be communicated by 6:30 a.m. Tuesday through the following methods:

  • Text message and email from the Baylor Alert system
  • Notice posted to www.baylor.edu
  • Social media via the University's official Twitter account @Baylor and Baylor's Facebook page
  • Local media outlets (list of TV, newspapers and radio below)
  • Recorded message via the Baylor Information Line at 254-710-4411
