WACO, Texas (May 10, 2017) – The 2017 graduating class of Baylor University will walk the Ferrell Center stage Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13, completing this phase of life and entering the next.
Baylor Commencement Ceremonies
Baylor Interim President David Garland, Ph.D., will preside over the three ceremonies and present graduates with their diplomas.
The commencement ceremony for the Louise Herrington School of Nursing, Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences and all science disciplines from the College of Arts and Sciences will take place at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 12, in the Ferrell Center, 1900 S. University Parks Drive. Bearer of the Mace will be Karen Anne Fredenburg, Ph.D., associate professor emerita of health, human performance and recreation (1981-1994, 1997-2016).
The commencement ceremony for the arts and humanities disciplines from the College of Arts and Sciences, Honors College, School of Engineering and Computer Science, School of Music and Diana R. Garland School of Social Work will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 13, in the Ferrell Center. Bearer of the Mace will be Ellie B. Caston, Ph.D., retired senior lecturer and former director of Mayborn Museum Complex (1997-2015).
The ceremony for the Hankamer School of Business, School of Education and all military degrees will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13, in the Ferrell Center. Bearer of the Mace will be Joseph A. McKinney, Ph.D., professor emeritus of economics (1976-2014).
All graduate students will participate in the ceremonies related to their graduate degrees.
George W. Truett Theological Seminary Commencement
Commencement for Baylor's George W. Truett Theological Seminary will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, May 12, at First Baptist Church Waco, 500 Webster Ave. A reception will follow in the FBC Fellowship Hall.
Baylor Business MBA Hooding
The hooding ceremony for M.Acc. and M.Tax. graduates will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 12, in McClinton Auditorium (Foster 240) of the Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation, 1621 S. Third St., with a reception immediately following.
The ceremony for M.B.A., O.M.B.A., M.S.Eco. and M.S.I.S. graduates will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 13, in McClinton Auditorium, with a reception immediately following.
Parking
The parking lot at the Ferrell Center is accessible from both University Parks Drive and LaSalle Avenue. Parking for disabled individuals is accessible from the Daughtrey Avenue entrance off University Parks Drive. The circle drive located at the main entrance to the Ferrell Center is available for those people wishing to drop off guests. Those with disabled or elderly guests should ask a parking attendant for curbside drop-off before parking.
Guests may be diverted to parking in the East Campus Garage on Daughtrey Avenue. Baylor police officers and parking assistants will direct guests to the garage. Shuttle service from the garage to the Ferrell Center is provided at no cost.
Seating
Seating for the ceremony is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Allow sufficient time to park and be seated before the ceremony begins.
If guests are disabled or elderly and require accommodations, plan to arrive early to avoid heavy crowds in the parking areas and along the concourse. Wheelchair seating will be provided inside the arena with rows in front of the area for family members.
Graduates are strongly encouraged to host no more than 10 guests at the ceremony to make sure all families will be accommodated. The Stone Room inside the Ferrell Center will be set up as an overflow room with a video stream of the ceremony.
Doors will open 90 minutes before the ceremony, and the estimated length is two hours and 45 minutes.

Photography
The university provides an official photographer to photograph each graduate receiving a degree. Pictures are in color and different packages are available for purchase. Proof sheets and rates will be mailed to the graduate’s permanent mailing address and emailed to the student’s Baylor email by Flash Photography, or you may contact Flash at 1-800-410-8070.
DVDs of the ceremony and memorable scenes of the Baylor campus are available from Dub-L Tape Inc. Dub-L Tape will have a table in the Ferrell Center concourse before and after the ceremony with order forms available.
