Outstanding Professor Awards to be Presented May 17

Seven faculty members at Baylor University will be presented with the Outstanding Professor and Teaching Award during spring commencement Saturday, May 17, at the Ferrell Special Events Center.
Faculty members will be recognized during graduation exercises for their respective academic units beginning either at 10 a.m. or 3 p.m. Each recipient also will receive $2,000.
The Tenured Professor Award for Business, Law, Engineering and Computer Science will be presented to Michael Morrison, professor and The William J. Boswell Professor of Law.
The Tenured Professor Award for Music Education, Nursing and the Library will be awarded to Burna Battles, assistant professor of health, human performance and recreation.
Dr. Wilma Pitts Griffin, professor and The Mary Gibbs Jones Chair of Family and Consumer Sciences, will be presented the Tenured Professor Award for the College of Arts and Sciences.
The Non-Tenured Teaching Award, given to faculty members on a tenure track, will be awarded to Dr. Bruce Berg, associate professor of violin, and the Non-Tenured Teaching Award, given to non-tenure track faculty, will be presented to Charles Kemp, lecturer of nursing.
The Research Award for tenured or non-tenured professors will be presented to Dr. Dean M. Young, professor of information systems in the Hankamer School of Business. John Wilson, assistant professor and documents librarian of Moody Library, will be presented with an award for "significant contributions to the University in an area or areas other than teaching or research.
