WACO, Texas (Nov. 6, 2015) – Baylor University’s Mayborn Museum Complex will host its biannual day of education and fun with “Sic ‘Em Science Day,” from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. The event marks a collaboration between the museum and Baylor University’s departments of chemistry, physics and biology in the College of Arts & Sciences.

“‘Sic ‘Em Science Day’ is a fun, family-friendly event that demonstrates many different aspects of science and offers insight into the world around us,” said Rizalia Klausmeyer, Ph.D., associate director of prehealth studies and program director of the Science and Health Living-Learning Center. “This will hopefully help to inspire the next generation of young scientists to follow their passions and pursue a career in a STEM field.”

Visitors will have the opportunity to build and launch their own bottles rocket at 10:30 a.m. Guests must bring an empty, 2-liter bottle for this activity. A short video provided by SpaceX that will explore designing, manufacturing and launching rockets will be played at 11:15 a.m. A chemistry magic show, presented by student affiliates of the American Chemical Society, will be held at 1 p.m.

“Not only is this event an opportunity for children of all ages to see science in action, but it also allows Baylor science students to serve the Waco community,” Klausmeyer said. “The event also showcases the beautiful Mayborn Museum Complex grounds and allows access to the many fascinating exhibits within the museum itself.”

Admission to the museum includes all activities and events. Baylor University students and museum members receive free admission.

The Mayborn Museum Complex is located at 1300 S. University Parks.

“Sic ‘Em Science Day” may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.
