Faculty Art Exhibition Opens March 25

March 19, 1997

Members of the Baylor University Department of Art faculty will display their work at the annual Studio Art Faculty Exhibition which opens Tuesday, March 25, in the Martin Museum of Art in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Building on the Baylor campus. The show runs through May 3.
The exhibit will feature pieces by nine artists and in nine different art disciplines. Selections will include three-dimensional sculpture, ceramics, prints, mixed media and graphic design as well as other artistic styles.
The art works were all created within the last year and have never been on public display before, although some of the graphic design selections have won awards.
"Through this annual exhibit, art students as well as Baylor students can see what our artists are doing. They can see that our faculty members are very active," said Dr. Heidi Hornik, assistant professor of art and director of the Martin Museum.
One change this year will be the relocation of the exhibit from the University Art Gallery to the Martin Museum. Hornik explained that the University Art Gallery will feature a student art exhibit which will run concurrently with the faculty exhibition. The student exhibit opens Tuesday, April 15. A reception for both exhibitions is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 14, in the Martin Museum of Art and the University Art Gallery.
"We think it will be great that people can see the works of our students at the same time they view the works of our faculty. That should attract a lot of attention," said Hornik about the dual exhibits.
The Martin Museum of Art is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, call 755-1867.
