WACO, Texas (July 27, 2015) - Baylor University is mourning the tragic passing of incoming freshman Alger Ben Baker III, who died in a car accident July 25 in Plano.

Ben is the son of Ben and Allison Baker, both of whom are Baylor graduates. Ben was a 2015 graduate of Plano Senior West High School and planned to attend Baylor in August.

“Our hearts are broken at the tragic passing of Ben Baker, who was the beloved son of a loyal and dedicated Baylor family,” said Baylor President and Chancellor Ken Starr. “Ben had recently attended Line Camp on our campus and was to begin at Baylor this fall. We pray that God’s grace and comfort will surround Ben’s family, his parents, Ben and Allison, and his many friends at this terribly sad hour. We ask the Baylor family to lift up the Bakers and keep them close in their thoughts and prayers.”

Services are pending. However, Ben’s friends will hold a vigil tonight (Monday, July 27) at 8 at Parkway Hills Baptist Church, 2700 Dallas Pkwy, Plano, Texas.

Please keep the Baker family and Ben’s friends in your prayers as they go through this very difficult time.
