WACO, Texas (July 17, 2015) — Baylor University’s Center for Christian Music Studies mark its 14th annual Alleluia Conference for church musicians July 21-24, as well as a new endeavor running concurrently — the Worship Lab, a camp providing training for high school students who hope to become youth worship leaders or instrumentalists.

More than 400 musicians are expected — among those students from other universities — to attend the Alleluia: Many Voices + Once Song conference. Some 80 students, chosen based on audition videos, have registered for the Worship Lab.

The Worship Lab offers high school students a week-long opportunity to engage with renowned Christian music artists David Crowder, Robbie Seay, Shaun Groves and Leslie Jordan (All Sons and Daughters, as well as with undergraduate and graduate Baylor music students.

“We are very pleased to offer this opportunity to provide training and enrichment for high school students who are already active in leadership roles in their churches,” said Randall Bradley, D.M.A., The Ben H. Williams Professor of Music and director of the Church Music Program and The Center for Christian Music Studies. “This highly select group presents immense hope for the future of our churches and our world.”

The event also offers the public the chance to attend three free evening concerts:

  • 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 21: YouthCUE Concert in Paul W. Powell Chapel at George W. Truett Theological Seminary, 1100 S. Third St.
  • 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 22: Student recital at Paul W. Powell Chapel at Truett Seminary, 1100 S. Third St.
  • 7 p.m. Thursday, July 23: Park Cities Baptist Church Orchestra and Choir at Jones Concert Hall in the McCrary Building, 110 Baylor Ave.
  • The Alleluia Conference, led by 33 respected music clinicians, is a one-of-a-kind enrichment event intended to re-energize and inspire worship leaders, music ministers, children's choir leaders, and keyboard ministers, Bradley said. It offers 12 reading sessions, including one for a full orchestra, as well as 10 break-out sessions featuring more than 40 workshops, lectures and discussions.

The Alleluia Conference will be held in Truett Seminary and McCrary Building, while the youth lab will be primarily in Waco Hall and Tidwell Bible Building on Baylor’s campus.
Cost for the full conference is $340, with a group rate (for three or more individuals) of $280. Those who cannot attend the full conference but wish to take part in a one-day intensive training, cost is $125.

Alleluia conference participants may register at the event, which begins at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, in the McCrary lobby. Walk-ups are welcome.
