WACO, Texas (Feb. 13, 2015) —International Justice Mission Vice President of Mobilization Bill Clark will speak at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, in Cashion Academic Center’s fifth floor banquet room as part of Baylor’s Academy for Leader Development lecture series.
“Bill Clark really adds a global perspective to issues such as sex trafficking and the work IJM does,” said Joshua Donath, coordinator for the Peer Leader Program.
IJM is a human rights agency that aims to rescue victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. Teams of IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local officials in order to secure immediate victim rescue and aftercare and to prosecute perpetrators. Its mission is to ensure that public justice systems such as police, courts and laws ultimately protect the rights of the poor. IJM operates out of 19 international offices, including those in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
As IJM’s vice president of mobilization, Clark directs strategy and leads IJM initiatives to grow the justice movement. Clark has spoken across the nation on the topic of worldwide justice and how to mobilize people to action.
During the lecture, Clark will share how he became involved in social justice and give an overview of the work he is currently doing so students can see how he reached his current position.
Prior to joining IJM in 2005, Clark was an executive manager at a California-based software solutions company where he also served as a business consultant for the sales team. Clark received his B.A. in political science from the University of California, Irvine.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
Cashion Academic Center is located at 1401 S. Fourth St. in Waco.

ABOUT THE ACADEMY FOR LEADER DEVELOPMENT
The Academy for Leader Development was established in 2004 by the Division of Student Life at Baylor University to create a common place where diverse individuals can study, research, and practice leadership and benefit from collaboration in the context of a Christian worldview. The purpose of fostering greater synergy among "leadership thinkers" is guided by an aspiration to provide a meaningful forum for talented Baylor students to develop their strengths in preparation for answering a call to sustained leadership whether their chosen vocations involve service in public life, private enterprise, social issues, or the Church.
