Rare Book Specialist to Speak Dec. 11

Kevin MacDonnell, a rare book dealer from Austin, will speak at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the Hankamer Treasure Room of the Armstrong-Browning Library on the campus of Baylor University.
MacDonnell will talk about current trends in the rare book trade and what the future holds. Issues of the talk will include the use of the internet in book trading, the rare book market, financial investments associated with book trading, theft of rare books and the need for training among rare book dealers.
MacDonnell has been collecting rare books since 1968. He started his career in rare books as a cataloger in the University of Houston rare books library. He worked for a large book firm for six years before beginning his own rare books business in 1987.
MacDonnell has published and coedited books on Mark Twain and has numerous publications. He has a master's degree from the University of Texas.
