WACO, Texas (March 24, 2014) – Ever wish you could just get your foot in the door at the most profitable companies in the nation? Luckily for Baylor students, companies will bring the door to them at the Marketing and Professional Sales Career Fair Wednesday, March 26, in Room 510 of Cashion Academic Center.
The MAPS Career Fair, sponsored by the Center for Professional Selling and the Professional Development Program in Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business, is held every semester to give students of all majors the opportunity to explore internship, job and career options and network with individuals in different industries. Dozens of companies, including several on Fortune magazine's annual list of the top 500 U.S. companies, will attend this semester’s fair to meet with Baylor students.
“It’s a chance for them to meet different companies and different individuals in that company,” said Amanda Rodriguez, who is responsible for corporate relations in Baylor’s Center for Professional Selling. “It’s a great way for them to network, connect and build.”
Rodriguez encourages students to attend the fair for as long as they are able and to interact with as many companies as possible.
“Don’t close the door on any company just because of what the name of the company is or what you’ve heard,” she said. “Talk to every company that you can because you never know what kind of connections you’re going to make, and that can lead to great opportunities in internships or jobs.”
The types companies attending the fair have grown in both quality and quantity over the years, with small, large, local and international companies all looking to meet Baylor students. This year, representatives from more than 50 companies will participate, including Google — No. 55 on Fortune 500.
“Companies across the country have started to recognize the talent that’s coming out of Baylor,” Rodriguez said. “A lot of companies are reaching out to us as well as us to them, and I think that says a lot about us and the students at Baylor University.”
Organizers suggest that those planning to attend the career fair prepare by researching the participating companies and bringing multiple copies of your resume. Business dress is required, as well as a Baylor ID for registration.
