Baylor Honors College Welcomes Lecturer Bengt Jangfeldt

WACO, Texas (Jan. 31, 2014) - Baylor University's Honors College will welcome scholarly biographer and Stockholm University professor of literature Bengt Jangfeldt Feb. 4 through 6.
While at Baylor, Jangfeldt will give the following lectures:
' 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4th: Lecture, "Raoul Wallenberg, The Hero of Budapest," in the Armstrong Browning Treasure Room, 710 Speight Ave.
' 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5th: Round Table Discussion, "A Life Based on 'Lives': Literary Reflections of a Biographer," in the Memorial Drawing Room, 1425 S. 7th St.
' 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6th: Colloquium for honors students, "Axel Munthe's The Story of San Michele and his Biographer: Truth and Fiction," in the Memorial Drawing Room.
Jangfeldt studied Russian literature in Stockholm and Moscow. He is the author of biographies of Axel Munthe (2003), Vladimir Mayakovsky (2007), Joseph Brodsky (2010) and Raoul Wallenberg (2013). His books have been translated into several languages and he has been a translator of Vladimir Mayakovsky, Osip Mandelstam and Joseph Brodsky.

Jangfeldt has received several awards for his books, including the August Prize twice and the Swedish Academy's Biography Prize. His visit to Baylor is sponsored by Thomas Hibbs, distinguished professor of ethics & culture and dean of the Honors College at Baylor, the Honors Program, Baylor University Press, the history department and the University Scholars program.
