Cholesterol Level to Be Discussed at Luncheon

September 13, 1996

"Understanding Your Lipid Profile" is the subject of the Baylor University Brown Bag Luncheon which will be held at noon Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the White-Beckham Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center.
A lipid profile is a breakdown of the two types of cholesterol levels in a person's body. Discussing the cholesterol levels will be Stephanie Taylor, preventive medicine coordinator for Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. Taylor will discuss the lipid and complete blood profiles that were taken last week on Baylor faculty and staff by the Baylor Office of Health Education and Wellness.
There are good and bad levels of cholesterol and the wellness office wants to help people keep up with both kinds, said Shannon Haines of the Wellness office.
"We are trying to offer a service that continuously monitors various areas of health and wellness," she said. "Recent studies have shown that cholesterol is another one of these areas that need to be monitored."
The luncheon is open to the public. For more information, contact Haines at 755-3520 or 755-3519.
