Dr. Herbert Colvin, emeritus professor of music theory and University Carillonneur at Baylor Univesity, has been elected to the board of directors of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America at the organization's annual congress, held in Cohasset, Mass.

Since joining the Baylor faculty in 1957, Colvin has served the School of Music as chairman of the Piano Department (1958-1962), chairman of the Theory Department (1962-1976), coordinator of the Theory Division (1976-1985), director of the Academic Studies Division (1985-1987), and University Carillonneur (since 1988). He began his carillon studies in 1987 with George Gregory in San Antonio. He holds degrees from Baylor, the University of Colorado and the University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music.

Also at this year's annual GCNA congress in Cohasset, Lynnette Geary was admitted to full carillonneur membership in the organization. The honor was bestowed following a successful examination carillon recital which she performed before GCNA members. Invitations to recitalists are extended by the GCNA Examination Committee after approval of tape recordings and other materials submitted by the candidates.

Geary, who is a student of Colvin as University Carillonneur, serves Baylor as administrative assistant in the Department of History.
