Honors Program to Honor Academic Excellence April 10

Baylor University's Honors Program will host the fourth annual Harry and Anna Jeanes Academic Honors Convocation at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, in the McLean Foyer of Meditation in Armstrong-Browning Library.
The convocation is designed to recognize students from every unit of the university who have achieved academic excellence.
Dr. Robert B. Sloan Jr., Baylor president and Baylor Honors Program graduate, will speak on "The Meaning of Excellence in the 21st Century: Specialization for the Whole Person."
"This event not only applauds students who have set and achieved high standards within their fields of study, but also reaffirms our commitment as a university to the importance of the intellectual pursuit," said Dr. Wallace Daniel, professor and chair of history, The Ralph L. and Bessie Mae Lynn Professor of History, and director of the Honors Program.
The convocation is made possible by an endowment gift from J. Harry and Anna Jeanes of Waco. Mr. and Mrs. Jeanes have been long-time important contributors to academic programs at Baylor. The endowment was established to support Academic Honors Week at Baylor, which is one of only two such events in Texas and one of the few in the country.
