Baylor Religion Professors Will Discuss "9/11: A Decade Later"

The Baylor Religion Club will host a panel discussion focusing on the relationship between the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and traditional Christian views at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at Miller Chapel.
Bill Bellinger, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Baylor religion department, Natalie Carnes, Ph.D., assistant professor of religion, and Reggie Williams, Ph.D., full-time lecturer of religion, will serve as panelists. Each will present a 10-minute 9/11 reflection before discussing their topics with the audience.
Jonathan Tran, Ph.D., assistant professor of religion at Baylor and primary organizer of the event, thought the discussion was appropriate on the tragedy's 10th anniversary.
"Namely, 9/11 is a watershed moment in American life, and by chance, many Americans happen to be Christian," Tran said. "One of the things we will be considering is how Scripture and the vast theological tradition help us think about this time. As well, there are significant questions about the role of religion in public life, and we hope to address these."
The event, held in Tidwell Bible Building's Miller Chapel at 600 Speight Ave., is free and open to the public.
