Sloan to Speak at Mid-Cities Baylor Club Banquet

The Mid-Cities Area Baylor Club will host Baylor University President Robert B. Sloan Jr. at its meeting and banquet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, at the Harvey Hotel at DFW Airport. The Inaugural Banquet will be the first meeting of the newly chartered Baylor alumni chapter. Sloan will be the featured speaker at the banquet.
Sloan, who became the 12th president in the 150-year history of the university on June 1, is a 1970 Baylor graduate. He earned his master of divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1973 and received the Doktor der Theologie degree from the University of Basel in Switzerland in 1978. Before his appointment as president, Sloan was dean of Baylor's George W. Truett Theological Seminary, professor of religion and the George W. Truett Professor of Evangelism. He taught in the Department of Religion for 10 years before his selection as seminary dean.
The Mid-Cities Area Baylor Club was chartered this fall and is the newest in the nationwide network of locally organized Baylor alumni chapters. The chapter includes the areas of Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Fort Worth and Grapevine. A Board of Directors is already in place, and officers have been elected. Knox Pittard of Hurst is president for the year, with Roger and Donna Bohannon of Fort Worth as presidents-elect.
