Faith-motivated individuals, local congregations, and faith-based organizations bring enormous good will and resources to bear on many social problems, especially those related to crime and justice. We sense it is time for communities of faith and secular agencies to join forces in order to mobilize and coordinate a comprehensive strategy to help rebuild lives and transform communities. Our local churches and faith-based organizations can assist in providing stable housing, transportation, employment, education, budgeting, life skills training, child care, mentoring, tutoring for children, wholesome friendships, and a spiritual support network but are often uncertain how they might go about doing these things. Baylor's Institute for Studies of Religion and the Center for Ministry Effectiveness and Educational Leadership, along with the Waco Regional Baptist Association and the Restorative Justice Ministries Network of Texas hope to come up with solutions during this free symposium. To register call (254)710-7555.
