Toy Drive Dec. 8 Brings Santa's Workshop to Baylor

November 30, 1995

Staff, students, and faculty of Baylor University will hold a toy drive to benefit the fourth annual Santa's Workshop at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, in Marrs McLean Gymnasium on the Baylor campus.
The event will benefit more than 400 children from area daycares that serve children in need. Donated toys should not be wrapped, battery-operated, or cost more than $5-$10, and will go to a 3- or 4-year-old child. Toys may be donated in the Bill Daniel Student Center, Moody Memorial Library, Athletic Department, the Harrington House and Memorial, Penland and Collins cafeterias.
"The University High School Choir will sing as the children arrive," said Kate Spence, community services coordinator for Student Activities. "We'll feed them lunch, and then Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus (James Huey, assistant vice president and executive director, regional development programs at Baylor and Mrs. Sue Sloan) will arrive. We'll then pass out gifts, and Baylor's Heavenly Voices Gospel Choir will perform. Baylor student-athletes will also be on hand to help give gifts, hug the children and talk to them."
Santa's Workshop is sponsored by ARAMARK, the Department of Student Activities, Staff Council and the Baylor Service League.
Volunteers are also needed to help decorate, serve the children, and assist Santa and Mrs. Claus. For more information, contact Kate Spence in Student Activities at 755-2371.
