Baylor Handbell Choir to Perform Nov. 20

The 11-member Baylor University Handbell Choir will present a concert in Meadows Recital Hall at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20. The performance will be under the direction of Ray F. Luper, associate professor of music literature and church music.
Dr. Luper, who holds degrees from Wayland Baptist College, the University of North Texas, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Tulane University, has been a Baylor music faculty member since 1974.
The concert will feature music of such well-known composers as Arcangelo Corelli (the "Christmas Concerto,") Johannes Brahms ("Hungarian Dance Number 5,") and William Billings ("Chester"). Also on the program will be the "Doxology for Bells" by Bob Burroughs, the "Fantasy on Westminster Quarters" by Hal H. Hopson, Stephanie Clark's "Castle Hills Reflection," and Paul Manz's improvisation on the German carol, "Now Sing We, Now Rejoice."
Two handbell quartets by Charles Maggs will form the central portion of the program, his arrangement of William Byrd's "Pavana" and of Robert Schumann's "Soldier's March."
