Baylor University School of Music Hosts Spring Performances and Music Lectures in Lyceum Series

Baylor University's School of Music will continue the 2010-2011 Lyceum Series with a concert by José Díaz at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, in Jones Concert Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music building on the Baylor campus.
The Lyceum series, which was founded in 1976, is a year-long series of lectures, classes and recitals hosted by the School of Music to share professional knowledge and skills from internationally acclaimed artists and teachers with students.
Díaz, a jazz music educator, will lead a concert by the nationally acclaimed Latin/salsa band, Caliente, comprised of students from the Díaz Music Institute. Díaz is its founder and artistic director. He is in his 23rd year as director of the MacArthur High School Jazz Ensemble in Houston.
The event is free and open to the public.

' Lecture with Joy Haslam Calico (musicologist): Meadows Recital Hall, 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3.

' Lecture with Shih-Hui Chen (composer): Meadows Recital Hall, 4p.m. Monday, Feb. 7.

' Master Classes with William McGraw (baritone): Roxy Grove Hall, 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26.

' Master Class with William McGraw (baritone): Roxy Grove Hall, 2 p.m. Sunday Feb. 27.
