Ballet Magnificat to Perform at Baylor Nov. 16

November 7, 1995

WACO, Texas - Ballet Magnificat, the first full-time professional ballet company ever formed with the purpose of sharing the gospel, will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in Waco Hall at Baylor University. The performance, which is sponsored by Baylor's Student Union, will feature several works from the company's repertoire.
Ballet Magnificat was founded in 1986 by Kathy Thibodeaux, who was the silver medalist at the II USA International Ballet Competition. The troupe has been featured several times on the internationally-broadcast "700 Club" and has been a guest at the Christian Music Artist's Seminar in Estes Park, Colo. Members of the troupe are featured in Twila Paris' recently released video, "God is in Control." Their repertoire includes ballets set to music by Sandi Patti, Steve Fry, John Michael Talbot and Steve Green.
The company performs more than 100 times annually across the United States and Canada, and invitations have been received from all over the world for the tour company to travel as missionaries. Ballet Magnificat has a school based in Jackson, Miss., which provides quality training in classical ballet technique.
The program, which appeals to all ages and is suitable for the entire family, is open to the public. Tickets are available in the Student Activities office in the Bill Daniel Student Center for $7 and $5 for students or groups of 10 or more.
