Baylor University Welcomes Renowned Engineer to Speak at Lecture Series

Dr. Rodney Wittler, a professional civil engineer in Colorado, will lecture on "Adaptive Management in Ecohydraulics" at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, in the Baylor Sciences Building as part of the O.T. Hayward lecture series.

The free event will start at 6:30 p.m. with an opening reception in the elevator landing of Hall E2 in the BSB followed by the lecture in Room D109. Both the reception and lecture are open to the public.

Wittler is the Mid-Pacific Regional Science Liaison to Reclamation's Research and Development Office in Colorado. He also has served as the senior scientist of the Trinity River Restoration Program in California and as a research hydraulic engineer in the Water Resources Research Laboratory of Reclamation's Technical Service Center in Colorado.

Wittler has 27 years of general and research engineering experience in hydraulic models, river mechanics, flow measurement, sediment analysis, temperature modeling and river restoration.

The O.T. Hayward Lecture Series is part of an endowment provided by Connie and Virginia Hudson. The Baylor alumni named the series after Dr. O.T. Hayward, professor emeritus of geology at Baylor.

Hayward became a professor at Baylor in 1955, retired in 1992 and directed more student research than any other geology faculty member, with more than 4,000 hours in the field with students.
