Baylor Music Faculty Present 'Faith and Music'

Baylor University School of Music faculty will present "Faith and Music: A Liturgical Celebration of Music and Reflection," at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, in the Paul W. Powell Chapel at George W. Truett Theological Seminary.

Sponsored by the Institute for Faith and Learning and the School of Music, the concert is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served afterward at a reception in the Truett Seminary Great Hall.

"The School of Music's annual Faith and Music concert is an effort to explore the strong influence of Christian faith upon a wide array of musical styles," said Dick Veit, Baylor University School of Music concert and promotion manager. "With each passing year, the event seems to be getting bigger and more exciting, and the 2010 concert will feature nearly two dozen Baylor music faculty and guest artists."

Performers will include: Jane Abbott-Kirk (piano), Randall Bradley (conductor), Soon Cho (mezzo soprano), Doug Claybrook (piano), Jack Coldiron (lyric baritone), Doris DeLoach (oboe), Kent Eshelman (tuba), Gary Hardie (cello), Cameron Hofmann (piano), Kae Hosoda-Ayer (piano), Kathy Johnson (piano), David Music (hymnologist), Sandor Ostlund (double bass), Brent Phillips (trombone), Jeffrey Powers (horn), Alan Raines (piano), Wiff Rudd (trumpet), Mark Schubert (trumpet), Dan Scott (bass), Ann Shoemaker (bassoon), Eric Wilson (soprano saxophone) and Laurel Zeiss (musicologist).

Baylor University Chaplain Burt Burleson will offer a time of reflection.
