Brenda Morris Named to Organizational Development Post

Brenda K. Morris has been appointed by Baylor University President Robert B. Sloan, Jr., as assistant vice president for organizational development. She will assume her new duties Sept. 1.
Morris, who serves as associate dean for undergraduate programs in Baylor's Hankamer School of Business, is a Certified Professional Trainer and a lecturer in information systems. She received the Teaching Excellence Award for 1990-91 and Mortar Board's "Circle of Achievement" award in 1992.
Actively involved in exploring new technology and its use in teaching and learning, she has developed and teaches two training courses in this field and conducts leadership development seminars in the business school. Her latest involvement has been as coordinator for the Strategic Planning Partnership between the Hankamer School of Business and the Ernst and Young Foundation.
Before joining Baylor in 1988, Morris worked for Electronic Date Systems (EDS) in Plano, where she was involved in training for General Motors and AT&T and led a group which addressed quality issues related to training for EDS. She also was chosen as one of a six-member team to develop the standards for training which would be used throughout EDS offices worldwide.
Since coming to Waco, Morris has conducted training for more than 200 supervisors and managers of the City of Waco, supervisors at Chrysler Technologies, Hercules, Social Security, administrative staff at McLennan Community College, Plantation Foods and others. She has led seminars for such varied groups as Texas Instruments in Dallas, the National Association of Fund Raising Executives, and "at risk" students in Waco junior high schools.
Morris received a bachelor of business administration degree from Baylor, and master of education and master of business administration degrees from East Texas State University. She also served as a business professor at East Texas Baptist University from 1977-86. She is married to Dr. Gwin Morris, vice president of university relations at Baylor. They have two sons.

Sloan also has approved the appointment of Dr. John F. (Jeff) Tanner Jr. as the new associate dean for undergraduate programs at Hankamer. He will assume his responsibilities on Sept. 1 this year.
Tanner joined the Hankamer faculty in 1988 and serves as an associate professor of marketing. He is research director of Baylor's Center for Professional Selling and Sales Management. Previously, he taught at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education and at the University of Georgia's marketing department. He also worked as an account executive and project manager with Xerox Corporation and as a market researcher for Rockwell International.
The recipient of numerous awards, Tanner was named Hankamer's Outstanding Young Researcher in 1992-93. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from the University of North Texas, and a doctorate in business administration from the University of Georgia.
