Baylor University's Center for Community Learning and Enrichment has applications available for University for Young People, a summer enrichment program of interdisciplinary courses and camps for elementary through high school students.
The deadline to apply is no later than 5 p.m. April 19. Students who have attended UYP in the past do not need to apply again. Course catalogs will be mailed later this month to newly accepted students and former participants.
Students entering first through fourth grades this fall are invited to take part in the Creative Problem Solving Camp, which will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 14-18 at Hillcrest Professional Development School, 4201 Pine Ave. in Waco. The fee to attend the camp is $150, plus a $20 registration fee. The cost includes a University for Young People t-shirt.
UYP also will offer two sessions for entering fourth- through 12th-grade students on a variety of subjects, including music, drama, foreign languages, art, science, computers and technology and leadership skills. The two-week sessions, which will be held on the Baylor campus, are scheduled for June 7-18 and June 21-July 2.
Class registration fees begin at $80, plus a $20 registration fee, and includes a t-shirt. Some classes will have an additional cost because of materials.
Applications are available on the center's web site at www.baylor.edu/SOE/CCLE/ or in room 143 of the Draper Academic Building on the Baylor campus. For more information, call the Center for Community Learning and Enrichment at (254) 710-2171.
