Alumni Recital To Be Held At Baylor Feb. 19

Bassist Dennis Whittaker, a 1988 graduate of Baylor University, will return to campus for an alumni recital at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, in Roxy Grove Hall.
Whittaker serves as head of the string division at the University of Houston's Moores School of Music. He is also principal bassist with the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra and frequently plays with the Houston Symphony Orchestra.
Juliette Buchanan, lecturer in harp at Baylor, and and Noel Martin, a 1998 Baylor graduate who performs with the Houston Ballet Orchestra, will also perform.
The program will include Madrigal by Enrique Granados, Poucha Dass and Voyage by François Rabbath, the Adagio from Dimitri Shostakovich's ballet Unforgettable 1919, an adaptation of Johann Sebastian Bach's Cello Suite No. 5, the "Cavatina" from the film soundtrack to The Deer Hunter by Stanley Myers and Giovanni Bottesini's Grand Duo Concertante for Violin and Double Bass.
