50th Annual All University Sing To Be Held At Baylor

February 6, 2003

by Amanda Lewis, Student Newswriter

Baylor University will host the 50th annual All University Sing, a student musical production, Feb. 20-22, 27-28 and March 1 in Waco Hall. Tickets are available for the Feb. 27 performance.
A Baylor tradition since 1953, All University Sing began with an audience of 13 and is presently one of the most popular productions on campus with 18 student organizations showcasing their musical, theatrical and dancing abilities in Broadway-style acts.
A national panel of judges will review the acts and choose the top three groups based on entertainment value, musical quality, creativity, choreography and theme development. The winners will be announced on the last night of performances.
The top eight groups will be invited back to perform in Pigskin Review during Homecoming in fall 2003. The People's Choice awards, created during the 1999 performances, again will be included in this year's award ceremony. The award is based on audience votes on best backdrop, best music selection, best theme development and best costumes.
Entertainment between each act includes music provided by Third Coast, a popular jazz band, and special video presentations commemorating previous All University Sing shows.
A book and DVD also will be on sale. Compiled by the Baylor office of student activities, the book highlights behind-the-scenes act preparation, traditional moves, unforgettable costumes, larger-than-life backdrops and past shows.
An All University Sing Museum is located in the drawing room of Memorial Residence Hall. The exhibit includes costumes, clips, pictures and articles of the past 50 years.
