Baylor University Ministries has partnered with the Center for American and Jewish Studies to promote Mel Gibson's new movie, "The Passion of the Christ," which was released in Waco theaters Wednesday, Feb. 25.
To encourage students to see the movie, Baylor has reserved two rooms at the Starplex Galaxy 16 Theater and is selling $3 tickets to the Baylor community for the 11:15 p.m. screening on Thursday, Feb. 26 and the 12:00 a.m. screening on Friday, Feb. 27. Tickets can be purchased from the University Ministries office, the Center for American and Jewish Studies and Baptist Student Ministries. Students also can buy tickets from the resident chaplains in their residence hall.
University Ministries and the Center for American and Jewish Studies will give students the opportunity to express their opinions of the movie at a panel discussion at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, in Memorial Drawing Room. The panel will feature Dr. Todd Lake, dean for University Life; Dr. Marc Ellis, director for the Center for American and Jewish Studies; Dr. Randall O'Brien, chair of the religion department; and others.
