Appleton Resident Establishes Endowed Scholarship At Baylor
Baylor University recently honored Mrs. Nell Milburn Menn of Appleton, Wisc., for her generosity in establishing an endowed scholarship benefiting students enrolled in the Baylor School of Music.
University officials expressed their appreciation by hosting a luncheon Nov. 12 for Mrs. Menn and her invited guests at the Riverview Country Club in Appleton. At the luncheon, Mrs. Menn was presented with a solid cast bronze award plaque, a replica of one placed on the Wall of Honor in Baylor's Bill Daniel Student Center.
The Nell Milburn Menn Endowed Scholarship Fund was established this year to assist students attending Baylor, who are pursuing a course of study in the School of Music. The first recipient is Esteban Alvarez, a junior piano pedagogy major from Costa Rica.
A Baylor graduate, Mrs. Menn received her bachelor's degree in music in 1937. She has been involved in philanthropic, civic, community and church activities in Appleton for many years. She is a member of The Presidents Club, Old Main Society and Heritage Club at Baylor.
Mrs. Menn also has provided a Bösendorfer piano for the Baylor School of Music. The piano is located in the Meadows Recital Hall of the McCrary Music Building.
