Library Advancement Office Selling Christmas And Note Cards

Baylor University's Library Advancement Office in Moody Memorial Library is selling boxes of Christmas cards and note cards, which feature illustrations from some of the library's rare materials. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Baylor library system.
The Christmas cards show an engraving of the "Adoration of the Shepherds," originally published in London in 1793 by Thomas Macklin. This image of Mary and Jesus with the shepherds was taken from the library's copy of the Bible printed by Thomas Bensley in 1800. Each box contains 15 cards and envelopes.
The note cards are illustrated with drawings of flowers that were part of a five-volume portfolio, North American Wildflowers, published by the Smithsonian Institution. The portfolio includes reproductions of original drawings by Mary Vaux Walcott and depict flowers of the Gregory Garden.
Susan Bowlin and Janet Pence of the libraries' bibliographic access unit selected the images for the cards. The Christmas cards sell for $10 for 15 cards, while boxes of 12 note cards - three each of illustrations of Carolina jasmine, wisteria, dogwood and columbine - also sell for $10.
