Baylor Strides Toward Victory with Dedication of the Jay and Jenny Allison Indoor Football Practice Facility

Baylor University's most recent facility is one that will enable the Baylor Football team to practice rain or shine -- preparing them for victory all year-round. The dedication ceremony for this facility, the Jay and Jenny Allison Indoor Football Practice Facility -- one of the finest indoor practice facilities in the Big 12 -- will be Saturday, Sept. 26, at 3:30 p.m.
The dedication ceremony will be held at the Jay and Jenny Allison Indoor Football Practice Facility within the Alwin O. and Dorothy Highers Athletics Complex at 1506 S. University Parks Drive.
"Baylor is committed to advancing the efforts of Coach (Art) Briles, his staff and our football student-athletes," Interim Baylor President David E. Garland said. "However, Baylor could not achieve its goals without dedicated supporters like Jay and Jenny Allison who help make facilities such as these possible. We thank them for their loyalty and passion."
As a three-time Baylor football letterwinner, Jay Allison (BBA '78, MS '80, JD '81) understands that excellence starts on the practice field. The Jay and Jenny Allison Indoor Football Practice Facility allows coaches to focus on physical conditioning and strategic training without being stunted by weather conditions. Adjacent to the outdoor natural-grass practice fields included in the Alwin O. and Dorothy Highers Athletics Complex, the indoor facility with a synthetic playing surface will prepare the Bears for victory in every playing condition.
"It is gratifying that a former Baylor football letterman wanted to give back by helping provide a facility that will serve future Bears for many years to come," Head Football Coach Art Briles commented. "And the name of this facility is critical -- because of what it stands for," he added. "Jay and Jenny are great Christians, great parents and great friends. This facility is a tremendous honor for me and the program as we continue the Baylor tradition."
Indeed, green and gold are intertwined throughout Jay and Jenny's (BSEd '78, MSEd '80) history, matched with their love for Christ and desire to be faithful stewards of the gifts they've been given. In addition to Jay's football record, Jenny's family boasts of several student-athletes as well as more than 20 Baylor graduates.
"The Allison and Reid families have strong connections and loyalties to the Baylor football program and this facility will serve to build upon this rich legacy," Ian McCaw, Baylor's director of athletics, said.
The Allisons have endowed scholarships for football student-athletes, named the Jay and Jenny Reid Allison Skybox Complex at Floyd Casey Stadium and funded the Basketball Hall of Honor in the Lt. Jack Whetsel Jr. Basketball Practice Facility.
Jay serves as president, CEO and chairman of Comstock Resources, a NYSE-listed oil and gas company, and recently completed nine years of service on the Baylor University Board of Regents. Jenny is the former president of the Baylor University Women's Council of Dallas and is currently serving as parliamentarian. Both are members of the Baylor University Medallion Fellowship, the Athletics Hall of Honor and the Endowed Scholarship Society. They have four children, Baylor graduate student Jency (BA '08); Baylor freshmen Logan and Lucas; and Aubrey.
The new facility advances the Victory with Integrity Campaign, an athletic development program initiated in February 2005, and promotes the 10th imperative of Baylor 2012, building a winning tradition in Baylor athletics. The Jay and Jenny Allison Indoor Football Practice Facility truly provides a first-class facility in which football student-athletes will refine their talents to honor God.
