Baylor Student Elected to Board of North American Association of Christians in Social Work

Kate Bean, a Master's of Divinity/Master's of Social Work dual degree student at Baylor University, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the North American Association of Christians in Social Work (NACSW), headquartered in Botsford, Conn.
Bean is the first student representative from Baylor to serve on the board.
"I'm delighted Kate will be joining us on the NACSW board as our MSW student representative," said Rick Chamiec-Case, NACSW executive director. "Based on the strong recommendation we received from the Baylor School of Social Work, we have every confidence that Kate will be a terrific addition."
Bean, who received her bachelor's degree in mathematics from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, is in Baylor's dual degree master's of divinity/master's of social work program with a community practice concentration. She will assume her responsibilities with the NACSW board at its Oct. 28-29 meeting in Indianapolis, Ind., and will serve a two-year term.
"I am excited about being a student voice, as well as a voice for Baylor, on this professional international board," Bean said. "I believe it will be an excellent opportunity to combine both my Christian service and social work with people who live out their faith in ways that impact our world with Christ's love and justice."
The NACSW is an interdenominational and international organization that equips it members to integrate Christian faith and professional social work practice.
The board seeks student representatives to determine what social work students need and expect from the association.
This year's directive for students, Chamiec-Case said, is to provide leadership in the growth and development of the NACSW's social networking capacities.
