Garland Proclaims April 19-25 The Week of the Young Child

Interim Baylor University President David Garland will proclaim the week of April 19-25 as "The Week of the Young Child" at Baylor during a ceremony at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the Piper Child Development Center.

The Week of the Young Child is a national celebration held each year in April to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families, as well as to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. The theme of WOYC this year is "Bringing Communities Together for Children - Children Bring Communities Together." The week was first established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children in 1971.

Garland will read a proclamation in honor of those who make a difference in the lives of children. The proclamation encourages all of the Baylor family to make a good investment in early childhood at Baylor.

The Piper Center for Family Studies and Child Development welcomes all children from ages two months to five years and serves as a laboratory for all the majors in the department of family and consumer sciences.
