Baylor Welcomes April Chapel Speakers

Baylor University's department of spiritual life hosts chapel speakers every Monday and Wednesday at 9:05 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. in Waco Hall on the Baylor campus. This February, students will be inspired by faith-based entrepreneurs, authors, performers, pastors and Baylor alumni.
April 1 - Dr. Burt Burleson became University Chaplain in October 2007. As chaplain, he is charged with nurturing the spiritual well-being of the Baylor community through pastoral care, spiritual direction, preaching, teaching and leadership for the area of spiritual life.
April 6 - Tony Jones is the author of many books on Christian ministry and spirituality including, The Sacred Way: Spiritual Practices for Everyday Life and The New Christians: Dispatches from the Emergent Frontier. He is a sought-after speaker and consultant in the areas of emerging church, postmodernism and Christian spirituality.
April 8 - Doug Pagitt is most well known for being a founder of the Emergent Movement conversation. He also is the founder of Solomon's Porch, an intentional Christian community in Minneapolis. Pagitt also is the author of several books including, Manifesto of Hope and A Christianity Worth Believing.
April 15 - Ken Massey, a Baylor alumnus, became the senior pastor of the First Baptist Church in Greensboro, N.C. after serving at Calvary Baptist Church in Waco. Massey also works in the field of life coaching.
April 22 - Alison Milbank studied theology and English literature at Cambridge and received her doctorate from Lancaster. She was John Rylands Research Fellow at Manchester and has taught at the universities of Cambridge, Middlesex and Virginia. She is a lecturer in literature and theology at the University of Nottingham.
April 27 - April Knight, a live worship artist and freelance painter, is a recent graduate of Charleston Southern University of Charleston, S.C. Knight holds a bachelor's in religion with a minor in art. She is primarily a painter with much of her influence coming from the surrealist movement, and often uses scripture as a basis for inspiration of her paintings.
April 29 - In the last chapel of spring 2009, students are invited to a question and answer session with Dr. Burt Burleson and Ryan Richardson about worship on a university campus.
Chapel will not be held April 20 due to Diadeloso, a Baylor tradition that allows students a day off from class in order to compete in tournaments, enjoy entertainment and enjoy being a Baylor Bear.
