Baylor Lyceum Series Hosts International Men's Choir

The St. Mary's International School Men's Choir, from Tokyo, Japan, will perform a concert as part of Baylor University's Lyceum Series at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, in Roxy Grove Hall on the Baylor campus.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature the ensemble's program for the 2009 American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). Also appearing for the performance will be the Baylor Men's Choir.

Randy Stenson is an instructor at the St. Mary`s International School in Tokyo. He is the conductor for the St. Mary's International Choir, the Varsity Male Ensemble, International Show Choir, and is an elementary general instructor of vocal music. Stenson is committed to studying the use of movement both in instruction and in performance.

Together for nine years, the ensemble has made concert tours to the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Austria and Hungary. They have performed at the 2008 ACDA NW Convention in Vancouver, 2006 ACDA Central Division Convention in Chicago and the 2005 ACDA National Convention in Los Angeles.

Members of the ensemble meet for 20 minutes each day and are encouraged to realize their music through expressive movement. The mission of the ensemble is to nurture a love for and global awareness of music from many cultures and the spiritual heritage that embodies St. Mary's International School.

Stenson will give a demonstration lecture on his use of movement at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, in Meadows Recital Hall in Glennis McCrary Music Building on the Baylor campus.
The Lyceum Series was founded in 1976 and has been funded by the Meadows Foundation of Dallas since 1980.
