Baylor University will welcome several distinguished speakers and performers to campus this spring. Below is a list of the lectures, conferences, symposia, and performances that will be held during the semester at Baylor.

Baylor Founders' Exhibit
Jan. 5 - Feb. 27, Allbritton Foyer, Moody Memorial Library
The exhibit is part of the Baptist 400 celebration and will feature pictures of two of the founders of Baylor -- Judge R. E. B. Baylor and James Huckins, along with artifacts from the Judge's collection including such items as Rufus Burleson's watch fob, a candle mold, clock, bell jar, vacuum pump, a chest made from the wood of several area structures and photographs from the era. Beyond Our Borders Workshop
Jan. 16, 6:00 p.m. and Jan. 17, 5:00 p.m., Baylor University School of Social Work
This workshop prepares volunteers for Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in settings that permit the use of scripture and those that do not. Cost is $30. To register, click here.

CASPER Seminar series

CASPER is an acronym for the Center for Astrophysics, Space Physics & Engineering Research. It is an official Baylor University center existing around a formal partnership between Baylor University and Texas State Technical College-Waco. This semester long series begins with Dr. Eiichiro Komatsu of UT Austin speaking on "The 5-Year Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) Observations: Cosmological Interpretation." The series continues with Andreas Tziolas, Doctoral Candidate, speaking on "Colliding 3-branes and Formation of Spacetime Similarities in String Theory" on Jan. 30, Qiang (Bob) Wu, Doctoral Candidate, speaking on "The Late Cosmic Transient Acceleration of the Universe in the Horava-Witten Heterotic M Theory" on Feb. 6, Dr. Roger Bentson of UT Austin on Apr. 3, Mr. Brad Walter, Central Texas Astronomical Society discusses "CCD Photography with Small Telescopes" on Apr. 17 and concludes with Dr. David Hough, Chair of Physics at Trinity University, on Apr. 24. Distinguished Artists Series: Juilliard String Quartet

Founded in 1946, the Juilliard String Quartet champions the cause of chamber music through pedagogy and public performance. Throughout its career, it has been recognized for the boldness of its interpretation of the classics, and a tradition of championing new works. Intersections Speaker: author Greg Wright
Jan. 27, 7 - 8:00 p.m., Alexander Drawing Room
INTERSECTIONS explores the deep connection between faith, culture, and living one's theology with purpose and intention through topics such as faith and art, faith and literature, faith and politics, and much more. Greg Wright is the former Writer in Residence at Puget Sound Christian College in Everett, Washington whose lecture is entitled "Inklings: Too Good for Hollywood, Or Perfect Fit?" Greg is an ordained minister of the dramatic arts, holds degrees in theology, English literature and computer science and has three plays to his credit. For more information click here.
International Economic Crisis Panel Discussion

Three Baylor professors, including one from the economics department, will discuss and answer questions about the current international economic crisis. This event is free and open to the public.
