Baylor University and the Baptist General Convention of Texas will host more than 170 volunteer church youth workers during the annual Youth Worker University Aug. 1-2 on the Baylor campus.
The focus of this year's conference will be to energize volunteer workers - such as youth ministers, Sunday school teachers and missions and discipleship leaders - for a new year of youth ministry, said Don Mattingly, coordinator of youth programs at Baylor.
Allen Jackson, associate professor of youth ministry at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, will serve as keynote speaker. Workshops will cover such topics as "Developing a Ministry to Teenage Girls," "Understanding the Thinking of Postmodern Teenager" and "Leading Youth to Minister to Others."
Registration will begin at 4 p.m. Friday in the lobby of Bennett Auditorium, followed by the general session at 7:30 p.m.
