Baylor Welcomes September Chapel Speakers

Baylor University's spiritual life department hosts chapel speakers every Monday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. in Waco Hall on the Baylor campus. This September, students will be inspired from faith-based entrepreneurs, pastors and Baylor alumni.
Sept. 8-Phil Vischer is the creator of VeggieTales, the popular religious children and family media series. Vischer provides the voices for many of the VeggieTales characters, including "Bob the Tomato," "Archibald the Asparagus" and Mr. Nezzer. He has published several spiritual-based books in the Golden Book series based on the famous animated characters.
Sept. 10-Dr. Michael M. Massar, a Baylor graduate and Christian author, is the senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Tyler. Massar also attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Mansfield College of Oxford and the Graduate Theological Foundation of Notre Dame. He has served on several prestigious boards and councils including Baylor's Center for Ministry Effectiveness and is the vice chairman of the christian life commission of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Massar is a co-author with Daniel Bagby for the book, Before You Marry.
Sept. 15- Dr. Ted Baehr is an award-winning director, accomplished radio and television writer, and chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission. Baehr also published Movieguide: A Family Guide to Entertainment, a spiritual-based program dedicated to educating audiences on how to make better choices when selecting their entertainment.
Sept. 17-Dr. Burt Burleson is Baylor's chaplain and is a part-time therapist at the Samaritan Counseling Center. He supervises chapel, resident chaplains, mission opportunities and several other ministry programs on campus.
Sept. 22- Ahmad Washington is a Christian rapper that uses his gifts of rapping and preaching to inspire and excite worship. He is known as A.H.M.A.D.D, which means Accepting Humility Mastering All Divine Direction and is the founder of Flow 4 Christ Ministries.
Sept. 24- Greg Boyd is a former atheist who committed his life to Christ in 1974 and is now the pastor of Woodland Hills Church in St. Paul, Minn. Boyd is a distinguished theologian and has written several best-selling books based on biblical values.
Sept. 29-Mike Lewis who is known as the "Jesus painter," performs and speaks at events around the world. Lewis will inspire and also create as he paints a picture of Christ in less than 20 minutes.
Baylor's spiritual life also will host Marquette Bugg, a resident chaplain for Kokernot Hall on Sept. 3.
