Baylor Law Honors Austin Attorney As 2003 Young Lawyer Of The Year

Julie A. Springer, an attorney with the Austin law firm of Scott, Douglass & McConnico, L.L.P. and a 1987 Baylor law graduate, was honored June 12 as the 2003 Baylor University Young Lawyer of the Year. She received the award from Dean Brad Toben at the annual reception of the Baylor Law Alumni Association, held in Houston during the Texas State Bar Convention.
The Young Lawyer award was created in 1995 to recognize an outstanding graduate 40 or younger who has brought honor and distinction to Baylor Law School and to the legal profession. Recipients of the award are selected by the Baylor Law Alumni Association. Toben said Springer's accomplishments in the legal profession have brought great credit and distinction to Baylor Law School.
Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, Springer received a B.A. degree with honors from Baylor in 1985. Two years later, she graduated cum laude from Baylor Law School, where she attained the highest rank in her graduating class and served as the executive editor of the Baylor Law Review. Prior to joining Scott, Douglass & McConnico, she was a briefing attorney for Judge Sam D. Johnson, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, Austin.
Springer devotes the majority of her practice to advising and representing clients in all areas of employment law and also has experience in business torts, general civil litigation, commercial litigation, class actions, insurance coverage and technology litigation as it relates to employment matters and contracts. She has made numerous speeches, presentations and authored published articles dealing with her areas of expertise and was a contributing editor to Employment Discrimination Law, 3rd edition, published by the American Bar Association.
She and her husband Steve have two sons, Bobby and Jefferson.
