Calvary Baptist Church Minister to Discuss 'Leadership in the Church'

Baylor University's Academy for Leader Development and Civic Engagement will host its Leadership Lecture Series presentation, "Leadership in the Church," at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center on Baylor's campus.

Kelly Shushok, minister of life groups at Calvary Baptist Church, will discuss "Christ-centered leadership and what leadership looks like in the church," said Ramona Curtis, director of the Academy for Leader Development and Civic Engagement.

"Jesus never meant for us to follow him by ourselves. We believe our whole lives are about journeying with and toward Jesus; we're taking every step we can together. I help Calvary build small communities, called life groups, so that no one walks alone," Shushok said. Shushok is also married to Dr. Frank Shushok, Dean for Student Learning and Engagement.

Curtis said Shushok is an "authentic, Christ-centered leader who is passionate about her ability to promote Christ in her leadership."

Any lecture on campus is academically stimulating, Curtis said. This lecture will provide another opportunity to help students begin or continue their journey to find their calling. Curtis said students will leave with the message that leadership is necessary in everything we do.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
